About the event
The Pillars of Computer Science (POCS) series lets teachers do deep dives into specific areas of the CS Standard and Computer Science to gain an understanding of the content area to develop lessons in the area. During a POCS session, teachers will do a content session to gain intuition about the topic, then do an applied session to get hands on with the topic, next a session about that area with respect to how it impacts our society and other academic disciplines, and finally, teachers will do a guided lesson development with one of our pedagogical experts.
In the POCS 5: Electronics & Hardware workshop, we’ll explore the fascinating world of computer systems, focusing on the hardware that makes modern computing possible. Participants will:
Understand the basic electronic components that make up computing devices
Build knowledge of electrical circuits and how they work
Examine circuitry under microscopes to see real-world engineering in action
