About the event
The Pillars of Computer Science (POCS) series lets teachers do deep dives into specific areas of the CS Standard and Computer Science to gain an understanding of the content area to develop lessons in the area. During a POCS session, teachers will do a content session to gain intuition about the topic, then do an applied session to get hands on with the topic, next a session about that area with respect to how it impacts our society and other academic disciplines, and finally, teachers will do a guided lesson development with one of our pedagogical experts.
In the POCS 2: Algorithms, we’ll explore one of the most foundational concepts in computer science. This workshop will help you understand: What algorithms are and how they differ from programming How algorithms help us understand efficiency and computing power The relationship between algorithms and AI The impact of algorithms on society and other disciplines
