POCS 1: Networks and Internet

The Pillars of Computer Science (POCS) series lets teachers do deep dives into specific areas of the CS Standard and Computer Science to gain an understanding of the content area to develop lessons in the area.  During a POCS session, teachers will do a content session to gain intuition about the topic, then do an applied session to get hands on with the topic, next a session about that area with respect to how it impacts our society and other academic disciplines, and finally, teachers will do a guided lesson development with one of our pedagogical experts.

In the POCS: Networks Workshop, we will learn the basics of wired and wireless networks, addressing the content in the NJ-SLS Computer Science Standard. We will model lessons on wired and wireless technologies, talk with experts about sensor networks in cars and then review how networks impact us in society.
